Welcome back everyone! Today we will be introducing the latest Secret Lair Drop: Black Is Magic. This set was presented by Wizards of the Coast game designer Sydney Adams and will feature new unique art from different Black artists, each bringing their own style and vision to the remastered full-art MTG cards. Five cards already revealed are Shalai, Voice of Plenty (artist: Ernanda Souza), Ponder (artist: Ejiwa “Edge” Ebenebe), Cultivate (artist: Hillary Wilson), Kaya, Ghost Assassin (artist: Dani Pendergast) and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria (artist: KNIIO). Other artists that will be showcasing their talents in this set are: Thomas Zenteno & Julio Reyna. I can’t wait to see what cards they are slated to remaster.
For this latest Secret Lair Drop Wizards of the Coast has teamed up with another charitable organization called Black Girls CODE. Wizards of the Coast will be donating profits from the sales of this set to this organization which “aims to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color between the ages of seven and seventeen to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to science and technology.”
This Secret Lair Drop will be available in both foil and non-foil sets. There will be seven borderless alternate-art MTG cards in this release, each celebrating different expressions of Black identity. Pricing will depend on which Drop you wish to purchase (foil or non-foil). The foil Drop will cost $49.99 usd and the non-foil Drop will set you back $39.99 usd. Personally if you’re going to pick this set up for play or collectors purposes I would put up the extra 10 bucks and get the foil (hey, it is going to charity). The cards are prettier and the money goes to a good cause.
Presale begins on February 22nd 2021, so make sure you get online and order yourself a set at
