The developers at MtG are providing us with new content for a new year.  Hopefully this break from rehashing old planes and old content will last a while.

Welcome my fellow planeswalkers to the newly uncovered plane of Kaldheim.  This is a realm based on Norse/Viking mythologies (a first foray for the developers in magic’s 25 year history).  From the spoilers already released there is no shortage of Viking themes from Gods to elemental (frost, fire) giants to dwarves and elves, mighty legendary weapons and even the mighty Valkyrie will be making an appearance as warrior angels.

An appropriate (and important) mechanic making a return in this xpac are sagas.  not really seen since Dominaria, sagas are the EPIC stories and lore (really the backbone) of norse/viking culture.  Their stories defined them as a people.  So it is only appropriate that sagas make a return here in Kaldheim to tell their stories and provide inspiration to your warriors in battle.

As someone who plays most of the archetypes shown so far in their decks, I am drooling in anticipation for what they are going to be releasing and if their spoilers to date are ANY indication, MtG plans to start off 2021 with a BANG!

Without further adeu, here are some of the best of the spoilers to date:

halvar god of battle
sword of the realms
showdown of the skalds
halvar god of battle
sword of the realms
kaya the inexorable
magda brazen outlaw
bearded axe
magda brazen outlaw
kaya the inexorable
valkyrie harbinger
youthful valkyrie
starnhiem aspirant
rampage of the valkyries
pyre of heroes
elderfang ritualist
canopy tactician
thornmantle striker
surtland elementalist
absorb identity

With just these few tasty tidbits released my mind is REELING with the possibilities of what is to come in this MASSIVE expansion release.  Elemental giants, Golgari elves, Boros dwarves, gods and angels clashing in combat!  It is time do build our decks and fight for glory and to live forever in the presence of the Gods themselves.

As always stay safe, keep brewing and theory crafting.
